Animal liberation & blessing
Wednesday, 17 June 2026, 4 p.m.
ON SITE
Geshe Tenzin Zopa will lead us in a special practice to bless animals. Mantras will be recited and the animals will be led around or carried around sacred objects.
For example, we will buy insects and worms that would certainly be killed (feed animals) and take them to a safe place after the blessing.
Your pets can also be blessed. To do so, it is essential to register and make prior arrangements with the Tara Mandala team. If you would like to have your pet blessed, please send us an email at info@tara-mandala.de
Lama Zopa Rinpoche:
„Through prayers and reciting powerful mantras for the animals, they attain a higher rebirth and liberation. This practice immediately purifies oceans of samsaric suffering.
„For those who liberate animals or for those to whom we wish to dedicate the merits of this practice, who are struggling with obstacles in life, this practice helps them to attain a long life. Even if you do not expect it, karma will grant them a long life.„
This practice not only helps the animals in the short term by prolonging their lives, for example by preventing them from being eaten. By bringing them into contact with sacred objects, their karma can mature and they can attain a higher rebirth. Those who perform the practice also accumulate positive karma.

Accomplishing the higher levels of Buddhist practice depends on generating special insight. This type of meditative realization comes about through developing the mind’s potential for deep, tranquil, focused attention. Training the mind to develop the ability to focus single pointedly in this way, called shamatha or calm-abiding, is an invaluable tool for liberating ourselves from suffering and ultimately unlocking our potential to be of limitless benefit to sentient beings. In this course Geshe Zopa will provide us with an overview of the methods we can begin utilizing in our practice to make progress toward realizing calm-abiding, and how to create the supportive causes and conditions to realize this goal.
We recommend participating on both days, as a coherent topic will be taught. However, it is also possible to participate on only one day of the seminar.
